Needless to say this was a daunting task and we soon learned that you could spend months wandering places like the Louvre and the Centre Georges Pompidou and still only barely scratch the surface of all there is to see and experience. I would have to say one gallery that really stopped me in my tracks was the Musee d'Orsay. I had seen the waterlily paintings of Claude Monet's many times, in books and on posters, but to see the grand scale of them, the amazing colours and the sheer beauty of each painting was truly breathtaking.
The time I spent there, quietly wandering through those huge galleries, was something I will never forget. I don't think I can ever look at a real water lily again and not see Monet's lilies shadowed in my mind. Amazing and worth seeing if you ever get the chance. Clicking on the painting will take you to a youtube video viewing of the Musee d"Orsay.
