"I’ve drawn and painted animals practically all my life, but living in rural western Canada, I discovered very early that my subject of choice was horses. They are beautiful animals with exceptionally expressive behaviours and features that make them as different from each other as people are.  The challenge for me is to express that individuality through my paintings. "

And last year......

Colleen J Dyson had a booth at booth at ArtWalk 2015 in Lake Country, BC and here are a few of the paintings he had on exhibit and a bit about her inspiration and new format.

The floral painting is called Nucifera, which is a waterlily and was accepted into the AIRS show.  The other two,Going Home, and Across the Tracks, are new work that will be in Artwalk.  They are both from my trips down to Costa Rica, where I found much for my reference files.  It’s been two years since I had my own booth in that show and I’m really looking forward to it.  I will have 26 paintings in the show, a mix of landscape, florals, and abstraction.  I have a new series, Saltspring Island, and had painted four pieces for it so far, but three of them have sold, so one lowly boat painting will be available at the show.  I am excited also to be painting in a bit larger format, so some of my florals are 36 inches square. A big challenge for me in every way!  I hope all that works for an Artwalk write up.

Angelika Jaeger, Gale Woodhouse, and Nancy Vince invite you to Source of Inspiration running from June 1st to the 30th, 2015, at the Vernon Community Arts Centre.

Marlene G. McPherson will be exhibiting Changing Lands, a collection of acrylic paintings featuring  Lake Country’s Spion Kop Mountain at the Lake Country Art Gallery from April 8th to May 16th, 2015. McPherson’s artwork has been influenced by her 20 plus years of intergenerational instruction to local budding artists. She’s taught all ages, including one class where she taught 3 generations of a single family. This series began with deciding what to do with some left over paint after a class. Changing Lands records the beauty and vulnerability of the natural grasslands of Spion Kop Mountain in Lake Country, before they disappear to development, while also addressing the everyday changes happening in the lands around us.

Ten chapter members have had their paintings on display in Nadine's in Vernon including: Lois Campbell, Colleen Faulkner, Diane Gritten, Ev McDougall, Nancy Vince, Holly Smith, Gail Short, Joan Rowan, Margaret McSweeney, Teyjah McAren, Christine Kashuba, Michael Jell, Lois Campbell, Cindy Downey and Eileen Sawracki.
